favorite friday find

Last week I found the most beautiful little shop but forgot my camera.  I am making a special trip this weekend to go take photos to share with you.  It is so divine - I know that you will just adore it.  I could have bought everything in this darling place if only my pocketbook would have allowed it.  This is my favorite find from that day.  The wire basket was $5 and all of the letters were $10.  There are 112 letters to and from Dora and Danal dating from 1924 to 1928.  I can't wait to read them.

I find old letters so enchanting. They hold these pieces of time and allow us to glimpse into someone else's life.

Here's to hoping that one day someone will treasure the little bits that we leave behind.

I bought an old basket myself today! ~ WISH mine had olde letters too! You are going to have a blast reading those!

I can say for myself I loved reading the letters between my mother and her family members that dated back to the 50's. When we cleaned out their house in 07, we gathered up every letter we could find. My sister and I divided them up and when we were though we sent the back and forth.
But reading someone else's life would be even more interesting.

love the vintage basket and I too adore old letters. I just bought a bunch at a flea market last weekend. They ended up all being from a mother to her son in the 1920's. They were full of her thoughts of what was going on around her, her love for him, poems. you can really tell how much she missed her boy in her words. I feel so lucky to be able to read they. truely a vintage treasure

Wow! What a treasure you've found...I wish I could read them too...Perhaps you could put them in order, and make a little book out of the exchanges...Katie

Such a cool find! I love old letters too especially when you find a series of letters belonging to one person. I can spend all day long living vicariously through someone's forgotten past.

Interesting that someone would give those up..I know I wouldn't. But good for you!
I know my Mom and Dad have some old love letters in the attic...I hope to get ahold of one day.

cant wait it see more pictures!

Love old letters & diaries...haven't found any diaries yet, but I found a few old letters at a yard sale that made me happy.
